This morning, I was reviewing the traffic from one of my websites and I was very surprised at the annual traffic growth. Early in 2010, I migrated the site over from a static HTML site to an SEO-optimized WordPress site. You can see in April of 2010 when I made the switch and the growth started.
Here are some keys to growing your website traffic:
- Build an SEO-optimized website (like a WordPress site)
- Create a good mix of compelling, keyword-rich content (blog articles)
- Structure your blog articles correctly for the best exposure
- Build your social media audience through Facebook and Twitter
- Engage your audience actively and personally
Nice take, Russ. I am a huge fan of WordPress, not only for its native SEO-value, but also its user dashboard features. With some simple code work, you can fully customize most any WordPress template. Thought you might also dig this SEO-inclined post: http://tier10lab.com/2011/07/29/google-panda-seo-tips-from-seomoz/.
Great article! I’m not too familiar with the Panda update, though I’ve read quite a bit about it. It’s good news for us quality content folks and bad news for SEO spammers. I can’t even imagine the complexity at Google to manage quality links.
Great advice!
I noticed the same results when I got an SEO plug-in pack for my WordPress site, it’s good stuff! Now I want to invest more into SEO because I know its potential and ROI!
I use a couple different SEO plugs ins for WordPress. Which one are you referring to?
